“The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are.”
This quote, by Joseph Campbell, explains why I coach. I have a fundamental belief that each of us:
> is different
> deserves to discover and fulfill our potential
> should have the right, protected by our parents, schools and governments, to pursue what makes us unique and achieve as high a level of ability as we are able—and that this will make the world a better place
I also believe that many, if not most, people struggle to make the most of their lives, to fulfill their greatest potential. Sometimes this is due to forces beyond their control, but most often it is because they limit themselves—by believing that they “can’t” or “shouldn’t” or “mustn’t” be who they are. Yes, it might be scary and difficult to step up and claim your destiny, but I think the alternative—giving in and accepting to be less than you could be—is harder, and a tragic loss on an individual and a global scale. Imagine what the world could be like if we all lived our best lives and let others do the same!
The opportunity to help people to discover their true selves and make the most of their lives is why I coach.
Be who you are—it’s the privilege of a lifetime.
